Maritz Aldum – Chief Executive Officer

Maritz graduated from Bond University in 2002 where he completed his MBA. As a shareholder and Chief Executive Officer of 1Surance, his vision is to increase financial literacy in South Africa and provide relevant long-term insurance products to the previously underserved market.

As a successful businessman and entrepreneur, Maritz has a unique outlook on change and innovation. He surrounds himself with competent people with integrity and energy.

On a personal level Maritz holds his Christian and family values in high regard. He is also actively involved in community projects and serves on several non-profit boards.

Pieter Theron – Director and Head Legal & Compliance Officer

Pieter graduated from the University of Pretoria where he obtained a Degree in Law, where after he practiced as an Attorney for 15 years.

Due to his extensive Insurance experience and knowledge he became involved with the Insurance Industry on a full time basis and qualified himself as an FAIS Compliance Officer (Practice Number: 6119).

He is well experienced in the fields of Insurance- and Financial Legislation and Regulations, pertaining to FICA, FAIS, KYC, TCF, Corporate Governance, the Companies Act, King III and the Financial Services Board Directives, both in a Monitoring and Implementation role.

He holds a total of 22 years’ corporate Legal-, Insurance- and Compliance experience.
